Job title: Materials Engineer, Acoustics
Job description: Evaluate, develop, select and test materials such as (but not limited to) nitrile compounds, melamine foam, polyurethane foam, cellulose, fiberglass and acoustical panels, and make recommendations for their use in attenuation of noise, noise control, and sound enhancement. Materials are to be selected for application to structural systems, mechanical systems, and architectural and building systems, including recording studios and performance spaces. Design engineering parameters for such systems. Testing shall include performing benchmark ambient noise testing, testing of power and pressure levels before and after application of materials, and review of laboratory testing data and reports to confirm performance with respect to strength, sound transmission class (STC), impact insulation class (IIC), fire spread, heat transfer, toxicity, recyclability etc. Evaluate material recommendations based on their technical and economic factors for attainment of design objectives and develop new uses of existing materials and naturally occurring materials for noise control purposes. Must be knowledgeable in the application of materials, design of systems related to the application of materials, and structural and mechanical issues with the application of materials.

Type of position (Full-time or part-time): Full-time
Requirements: Requires either a) Master's in Audio Engineering, Acoustics or Music Technology plus Bachelor's in Materials Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, plus 3 yrs experience as materials or mechanical engineer, building applications, or b) Bachelor's in Materials or Mechanical Engineering plus 5 years progressively responsible post-graducate experience in acoustics applications in materials or mechanical engineering on buildings projects
Biweekly wage rate: Salary: = $3,680.00/biweekly
